Overview

This Guided Expedition will take pilots and passengers to explore the lush Costa Rican jungle and to visit a traditional, colonial, Mexican city.

Our first destination is the Guanacaste Province in Costa Rica. Participants will stay at Rio Perdido Hotel, a sanctuary in the Costa Rican Jungle where sustainability and beauty come together for visitors to indulge their senses in this luxurious, lost paradise. This Guided Expedition includes a tour to Arenal Volcano, one of the most iconic in Central America and to the hot springs of La Fortuna.

After this jungle adventure we will fly to the City of Puebla, in Mexico. Home of CST Flight Services where you will receive a warm welcome from our Staff. Puebla was declared Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 1987 and it is the perfect city to visit museums, temples, and archeological zones while appreciating the colonial architecture and delicious gastronomy.

Itinerary

Day 1: Sunday

Tapachula, Mexico

Depart Brownsville, TX (KBRO) and fly to Veracruz, Mexico (MMVR). After clearing customs into Mexico and we will fly to Tapachula, Mexico (MMTP) to spend the night.

Day 2: Monday

Bagaces, Costa Rica

Depart Tapachula after completing all the international departure procedures and fly to Liberia, Costa Rica (MRLB). A boxed lunch will be provided upon arrival at Liberia. After completing arrival procedures, we will transfer to Rio Perdido hotel. Luxury and sustainability are highlights of this beautiful sanctuary located in the Guanacaste Provence. During the wet season, the dense foliage and vegetation cover the canyon and, from above, the river becomes camouflaged; hence its name, Rio Perdido (Lost River). We will meet for dinner at the hotel’s restaurant.

Day 3: Tuesday

La Fortuna, Costa Rica

After breakfast, our guided tour will take us to La Fortuna, a small community, and the gateway to the magnificent Arenal volcano. After walking through different pathways that will show us delightful views of the Volcano and the natural reserve, we will have lunch and you will be able to relax and enjoy the thermal waters. We will return to the hotel where dinner will be provided.

Day 4: Wednesday

Bagaces, Costa Rica

Enjoy the wonderful facilities and amenities at Rio Perdido. Relax at the thermal river and soothing hot pools or take a refreshing dip in the outdoor pools while enjoying a freshly squeezed juice. If you are feeling more adventurous, discover Rio Perdido by hiking to the waterfall, medicinal spring or one of the two panoramic lookouts. If you prefer to explore outside Rio Perdido, visit Llanos del Cortés, Guanacaste’s signature waterfall or take a day trip to the beaches of the Papagayo Gulf. We will meet for dinner and a pre-flight briefing for next day’s flights.

Day 5: Thursday

Puebla, Mexico

We will transfer to Liberia International Airport to complete international departure procedures. We will fly back to Tapachula (MMTP) to clear customs into Mexico; a boxed lunch will be provided in Tapachula. Then, we will fly to Puebla (MMPB) and transfer to the Hotel Quinta Real, located in the Historic Center of the City. We will meet for dinner at the hotel.

Day 6: Friday

Puebla, Mexico

Located in a valley surrounded by majestic mountains and volcanos, the City of Puebla is one of the most iconic places in Mexico. After breakfast we will board a touristic trolley car that will take us to visit the landmarks of the Historic Center and learn more about the city’s rich history and culture. The trolley car will also take us to Cholula, a “Magic Town” where the Aztecs built the world’s largest pyramid by volume known to exist in the world today. After lunch we will return to the city center.

Day 7: Saturday

Puebla, Mexico

Take this day to stroll through the streets of the Historic Center. Puebla’s colonial architecture, both civil and religious has been remarkably preserved over the years, which makes walking through the streets an extraordinary experience. Visit the churches, where you will be able to appreciate the baroque art and architecture, or go to a museum, where you will learn more about culture ranging from pre-Hispanic heritage to contemporary art. If you want to get a feel of the local atmosphere, visit one of the many street markets, where you will surely find beautiful and one-of-a-kind products created by talented artists and artisans. We will meet for dinner and have a pre-flight briefing.

Day 8: Sunday

Brownsville, Texas

Time to depart. After breakfast we will transfer to the airport where we will take off for Tampico (MMTM) to clear customs and immigration out of Mexico and fly back to Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport.
